A big challenge is facing ahead the newly appointed CEO of the Algerian flight company Mohammed Salah Bouletif to refurbish the tarnished reputation of Air Algérie, and treat the pending dossiers left by his predecessor, sources from the company have revealed.

The same sources have yesterday indicated to Echourouk that the management policy conducted by the former CEO Ouahid Bouaabdellah had a negative impact on the company. His strategy which consisted in decentralizing responsibilities has created an adverse effect, it said.

A former manager at the company, who didn’t want to disclose his identity, has declared” The biggest setback of Air Algérie lies in the lack of organization, the company’s flowchart was copied from the US “ Western Airlines” that counts 700 planes while Air Algérie fleet comprises 40 planes”.

A union activist has noted that the company’s leading position in the African continent in terms of maintenance has been reduced because of the marginalization of several skilled experts, including the former head the technical department who was sued two years ago but cleared of all charges.
-
-
The interlocutor has indicated that the company has lost nearly 90% of contracts because of the chaos that prevailed in the technical department; many of them were linked to the maintenance of Libyan, Sudanese and national army planes.
-
-
The total cost of the maintenance of old planes is estimated at $ 100 million, he added.

Our sources were dismissive to the allegations that the sacking of Ouahid Bouaabdellah was linked to the European aviation authorities’ intent to impose a fly ban over the Algerian planes in the European skies.
-
-
“ In 2005 the European civil aviation has granted the Algerian company the ISO 145 but Bouaabdellah has appointed a manager who was unable to address the Europeans’ observations, to an extent that they have threatened us to blacklist the company”, those sources added.
