Unions vow to resume their protest campaigns after Ramadan

Numerous unions operating under the aegis of the traders and handicrafts union have decided to suspend their protest movements until the end of the holy month of Ramadan in order to avoid financial losses during a period where their businesses reach their peak.

  • The spokesman of the traders’ Union Tahar Boulenouar has, in this respect, indicated to Echourouk that the suspension of the protests was linked to two main reasons: firstly because during this period, most of the managers are generally on vacation reducing , thus all chances to see the protesters’ demands taken into account.

  • The second reason, the interlocutor added, if we go on strike during Ramadan we’ll be dubbed heartless, that’s why we resorted to delay our protests until the end of the holy month, dismissing any intent to make profits at the expense of the consumers.

  • On the other hand, the medial interns have suspended their protests until further notice few hours before the start of Ramadan. Talking on behalf of the interns M Redouane Ben Omar has indicated to Echourouk that the decision to suspend their strike didn’t mean that they were out of ideas “ We were able to go on our strike all along Ramadan, but the ministry’s move to start negotiations with has prompted to suspend the strike”, he said.

  • This is not the case for the education unions that vowed to resume their protest campaign by the start of the academic year. Messaoud Aamraoui has , in this respect, declared to Echourouk that they will not keep silent in front of the reluctance of the education ministry to settle the issue of their social fund.
