Uruguay to play Algeria in a friendly

The Uruguayan Football Association has confirmed the commitment of its national squad to play the Algerian side in a friendly slated for August 12 at the Olympic Stadium here in Algiers, as part of both team’s preparations for the 2012 World Cup qualifiers.

• The Uruguayan Football governing body has revealed in a message posted on its official website that it intends to use FIFA’s dates to prepare its squad. It also announced that Uruguayan staff will call up 29 players for a training camp as from July29.

• The same source added that the friendly versus Algeria is top important in the sense that the “Greens” (Algerian squad) top their group after two successful matches versus Egypt and Zambia.

• It should be noted that the match comes within the framework of the Algerian preparations pending the upcoming matches versus Rwanda and Zambia, while the Uruguayan side is due to play both Peru and Columbia.
