US embassy warns its nationals aginst visiting Algeria

The US embassy in Algiers has, few days ago, released a secret communiqué in which it warned its nationals based in Algeria or those who intend to visit it against not to come or stroll in the streets of Algiers especially.

• The communiqué which has been issued on October 19 contains series of overzealous reports relating the clashes that broke out between the inhabitants of the bustling compound of “Diar Echems” and the authorities over relocation here in Algiers.

• In the report, the US embassy has revealed that roads linking its building to Houari Boumediene international airport were closed to traffic as well as for the healthy ministry and other official buildings nearby the “Martyrs sanctuary”.

• It should be noted that this not the first time that the US embassy resorts to spread such allegations. In the communiqué it has deliberately qualified the last events as being amass insurrection that will likely spread to other corners of the country.

• The US embassy in Algiers has, two years ago, used the same method to mislead the Algerian public opinion when it issued another communiqué warning against probable terrorist attacks on official building including the Algerian Television and the Great Post Office.

• The information has spread panic among the population and almost led to a political crisis between Washington and Algiers.
