Volkswagen, Renault, Hyundai cars in installments for taxi drivers… and boat transport for pilgrims

The Minister of transport and public works Boujemaa Talai, has pointed to the prospect of granting new consumer loans to taxi owners who wish to renew their used vehicles, and this option , he said, will include the purchasing by the latter of cars manufactured in Algeria, like Hyundai, Renault and Volkswagen, in line with relevant private agreements.

“We’re currently striving to complete our shipping line transfer of Algerian Hajjis or pilgrims to Saudi Arabia and will be ready for that operation starting from this season or next season,” Mr Talai further asserted.

The minister also urged the new acting general manager of “Air Algerie”, Mr Bekhouche Alleche, to make every effort so as to hike the incomes of the airline company,  while vowing to fire certain failing officials of the company as part of a “cleansing” operation.

The management of Air Algerie airline, which is facing organization-related problem, must be “transparent,” further stressed Minister of Public Works and Transport Boudjemaa Talai, adding the company’s financial situation is “poor”.

“The new Air Algerie acting Director General must spare no efforts to make the airline management transparent. Everything must be visible, not only accounts, so that this historical airline company could resume the path towards genuine development,” stated the Minister.

According to Mr Talai, Air Algerie has neither external problems nor market-related ones, and “this is essential for an airline”.

However, the airline company faces major organization-related problems, he said, adding “the airline has highly-qualified senior executives, pilots, technicians and flight engineers. But there is no efficient management team”, the minister underscored.
