Wahid Bouabdallah: “Air Algerie garnered $700 million in 2008”

Air Algerie achieved a turnover of 54.5 billion dinars which is equivalent to $700 million of the total 2008 activity, by transporting 3.2 million passengers and exploiting 70 directions using 32 aircraftsof the Algerian fleet, noting that the figures of 2007 was 7.49 billion dinars.

Wahid Bouabdellah, General manager of Air Algerie, said Wednesday, during the presentation of the company’s financial outcome for the year 2008 in Algiers that a series of demobilization will touch a number of workers, who do not have the qualifications to fulfill the expectations of the company’s prospects.

Bouabdellah acknowledged the recurrent problem of late flights which are registered in the present times, saying a number of factors beyond the company’s control are the cause behind the delay of many flights. A situation, he said, which make our passengers angry adding that other causes are being these delays such as security measures and verification of the passengers’ identities.

The general manager of Air Algerie confirmed that his company will sign an agreement with the public hotels in order to accomodate the passengers overnight, adding that the four airports which will participate in the activity of pilgrimage are Bejaia, Tebessa, and Jijel, east of Algeria, and Chlef, west of Algeria.

“The case of Tassili Airlines is still on the desk the PM. The conflict is on both the capital and activity of the company. The state’s funds should not be wasted. We can undertake a joint training and buy aircraft and equipment”, he told Echorouk.
