The hostages crisis in Iran was solved thanks to the Algerian diplomacy mediation in 1980-1981.
In a release, the embassy hailed Algeria’s role in solving the crisis, saying that the US Deputy Secretary of State at that time paid many visits to Algeria. The Accords were signed by the US official and foreign minister Mohamed Seddik Benyahia. The crisis was ended and the hostages arrived to Algeria on January 20th in 1981.
