The Algerian justice Minister , Tayeb Belaiz, said that the British Minister of Justice is expected to issue on Saturday the decision on the handing over of Algerian fugitive Rafik Abdelmoumene Khalifa to the Algerian authorities. In case of a refusal, he said the decision will be then contested before the British High Court. “The court is on our side and we are in the final phase of the closure of this outstanding fileâ€, Belaiz asserted

Tayeb Belaiz seemed confident that the British authorities will hand over the fugitive Abdelmoumene Khalifa to Algeria after the judicial authorities of both countries respected the laws which will lead automatically to the handing over process.

This decision comes after the British court agreed formally to hand over Khalifa Abdelmoumene to the Algerian authorities in the trial of last June 25, at Westminster court in London, as the judge Timothy Workman considered that the decision to extradite Khalifa to Algeria “Does not contradict the International Treaty of Human Rights” and expressed his conviction that the garantees given by Algeria about respecting Khalifa’s rights were “Honest”.
