Workers of Education to launch an open strike on October 10
Algiers- Syndicates of Education announced a national open strike after 13 days of the start of the school year 2011-2012, implementing the threats that remain about the problems hindering the sector.
The open strike will occur at the level of the three educational stages protesting against the lack of realization of the agreement of April 12, 2011 with the Ministry of Education.
Both the CNAPEST and UNPEF decided Sunday to launch an open national strike as of October 10, calling up representatives of Education of all categories and levels and sectors to participate in a comprehensive strike in order to achieve legitimate demands and restore the social and professional status of the sector’s employees.
A statement by the Federation of Education and Training Workers asserted Sunday, following the session of the national emergency council in the secondary school of Mohamed Ben Teftifa (Blida, west of Algiers) on Saturday that the start of the school year coincides with the revolt of education workers, especially as the files in question that were written jointly with the Ministry of Education on April 21, 2011 have not been addressed, despite the five months primroses.
Same statement said that the studies and comparisons made to the Ministry of Education revealed on vast differences between our compensatory system and those of the public sector, as the grant of eligibility for many sectors reached 45% out of the main salary, while in education sector it reached only 25 to 30%. All sectors benefited from new grants out of the basic salary, but the education sector.
Representatives of teachers and workers of education said that there is a marginalization and non-valuation of their profession, although the article 08 and 80 of the law guiding the National Education stipulates that this sector is very strategic and productive with a first priority. They asked government to review the heavy imbalances in the law of workers in the national education, including the unfair classification in the right of school directing, education assistants, experts, professors and engineers in the primary schools which closed the promotion prospects and senior positions.
CNAPEST and UNPEF condemned the ministry’s refusal to open adapted positions to address the problem of chronic diseases prevalent in the sector as a result of the social and psychological pressure, depriving the southern regions from the compensation under the decree 330/, the grants of these regions on the basic wage for the year 1989, and the prejudice on the school holidays for this school year, although the entry and exit are unified and the program is one.
