Zambia match paves way for Algeria qualification to World Cup, says Madjer

Algeria’s football legend Rabeh Madjer said Sunday’s qualifying match against Zambia in Tchaker stadium in Blida (35 km west of Algiers) will be decisive in the 2010 World Cup qualifiers in South Africa.

  •
  • “Winning the match will open door for the Greens to qualify to the World Cup. They would have another chance in the next round when they play against Rwanda before going to Egypt to play the last qualifying match,” Madjer told Echorouk.
  • Asked whether it is better to play in Blida stadium or 5 Juillet in Algiers, he said he preferred the last one as it can contain as much as possible of fans. “Even the turf is good and the players can play on it with no problem.”
  • “Yet, Tchaker stadium is suitable for a match between Algeria and Zambia especially that the players have got used to it,” he added.
  • Speaking about the new comers Megheni and Yebda, Madjer said they will help the team as they play in the best European clubs. “Coach Rabeh Saadane makes the right choices.”
