Zambia’s Renard confident of victory over Algeria

Zambia’s coach Herve Renard appears to resume his provocative remarks when he said on Sunday victory should not be ruled out of Sunday's 2010 Africa/World Cup qualifier against Algeria in Blida.

• In an interview to Zambian newspaper The Post, Renard called for commitment and dedication from his players.
• “If we play like we did against Egypt with commitment and dedication we can’t rule out winning when we play Algeria,” he said.
• “Since qualification for the World Cup will be in the back of everyone’s mind when we play in Blida, I’m confident we will get a good result,” he added.
• Algeria won 2-0 to Zambia in June.  
• Renard said although he expected players to show commitment, he was also counting on luck.
• “I am confident players will perform well since motivation is always high when playing in such crucial games even though some players are short of match fitness,” he said.
• Renard is concerned that star midfielder Felix Katongo was short of match fitness.
• He hopes Katongo would be motivated when playing for Chipolopolo on Sunday.
