Zionist Escalation: Ahmed Attaf Warns of a Regional War
What is happening in the Middle East now, due to the dangerous Israeli escalation, portends the outbreak of a comprehensive regional war that could undermine everyone’s security and stability, Minister of Foreign Affairs Ahmed Attaf said.
In an address he delivered to the Security Council during a session on the “Palestinian issue,” Attaf stressed the Council’s “legal, political, moral and humanitarian responsibility in the face of the horror of the Israeli crimes against the Palestinians and the rest of the peoples and countries of the region” and the “firm responsibility of our Council that does not accept any justification for not adhering to it under any circumstances.”
The Minister of Foreign Affairs explained that this “responsibility is fixed and does not expire or fall in light of the failure that has afflicted this central body and paralyzed its ability to do justice to the Palestinian people and achieve their rights.”
“Our council has met dozens of times since the beginning of the brutal Israeli aggression on Gaza, during which only two resolutions were adopted calling for a ceasefire in this wounded Palestinian land,” Attaf explained, “the Israeli settlement occupation did not give the two resolutions any consideration, the slightest appreciation, or the slightest respect, but rather went on to commit its heinous crimes.”
The Minister of Foreign Affairs warned that “the occupation continued its flagrant violations and inhumane practices, without receiving any decisive deterrence or any explicit condemnation.”
The minister confirmed in his address; “Here we are today, witnessing the disastrous repercussions resulting from giving free rein to the Israeli occupation, lenient treatment of its criminal practices, and diverting attention from its expansionist and destructive plans,” explaining that “the crimes committed in Gaza a year ago, and in Lebanon today, are difficult to describe diplomatically, politically, or legally. The barbarism of these crimes has reached the limits of uncivilized, immoral, and inhuman practices.”
