Football icon Zineddine Zidane refused to participate in the Algerian short film “Waiting for Zidane” arguing that his sons refused the idea of appearing in another movie claiming that they did not like his role in the big movie “Asterix”, director Ahmed Rachdi told Echorouk.

• Director of “Ben Boulaid” exclusively told Echorouk that the participation of the global star Zidane in the short film, written by the novelist Merzak Bektache, was a great idea to enrich the work since the story was based on the dream of a boy who likes football hoping to meet the Algerian Zidane.
• However, Zizou who expressed many times his desire to participate in children movies apologized after director Rachdi insisted one year to convince him to participate in “Waiting for Zidane” funded by Al-Jazeera children along with seven Arab movies addressed for children.
• “We asked Zidane to participate only in one scene which shows little boy surprised by meeting his hero. However, it seems that the dream of the Algerian boy will disappear after Zizou refused to participate in such films, claiming that his four children refused to see his in a second movie.
