120 hackers perpetuated 15 cybercrimes in first quarter of 2011

15 cybercrime cases involving 120 hackers are being looked at different courts during the first quarter of the current year.

Sources within the Ministry of Justice told Echorouk that deletion of electronic data constitute the majority of the cases, by 38%, intrusions 27%, illegal data input 21%, trafficking the stolen data 5%

The defendants are between 25 and 30 years old and are highly skilled with informatics, for they are in the majority students and engineers in informatics. 65% of the aforementioned cybercrimes are of financial ends, while the rest varies between revenge, challenge and curiosity.

However, the victims are state owned institutions and enterprises with 60%, foreign companies 20%, and official institutions 11%. 

Therefore, the Homeland Security Department (DGSN) installed 23 cells to counter cyber criminality.
