14 thousand hectares allocated for the future housing plan

The government has summoned the committee in charge of delimitating agricultural real estates likely to be used for housing projects, to forward its final assessment by the end of June at the latest.

• The Prime Minister Ahmed Ouyahia has, in this respect, instructed the Walis ( governors)  across the country to give full assistance to this committee in order to complete its report that will be raised to the cabinet for endorsement.

• Reliable sources have revealed that the government was compelled again to use agricultural lands for projects certified public interest ones, after freezing this option in the past.

•  

• The outcome of the committee’s proceedings is set to announce significant shrinkages of the agricultural lands on account of the large bulk of the housing program initiated by the Algerian authorities to address the huge demand.

•  

• To recall, the upcoming five –year plan comprises more than 1 million housing units as opposed to 2 millions initially programmed.
