2010-2011 school year : Over 8 million pupils head for schools in Algeria

Over eight million pupils are expected to head for schools here on Monday 13 September, marking the beginning of the 2010-2011 school year, with a 2.71 percent increase compared to last year in the three educational levels.

•  “A total of 8, 176,700 pupils are expected for the new school year, including 3, 848,000 in primary, 3,097,000 in intermediate and 1,231,000 in the secondary schools.
•  The sector recorded and overall increase of 215,977 compared to last year, i.e. +2.71 percent in all educational levels,” said Sunday the Ministry of National Education.
• These pupils will be supervised by 377,980 teachers, in addition to 219,035 posts for administration and maintenance employees.
