400 million Euros to renew Air Algerie in 2011

CEO of Air Algerie Abdelwahid Bouabdellah said Algeria’s airliner and the civil aviation department presented correcting plan to the company to preserve air safety.

     “Air Algerie has never been in the black list of airliners. It has a good reputation in the aviation world. The company fleet will be renewed in 2011 in conformity with a plan between the company and the government. It will cost 400 million Euros.

    Bouabdellah told a national radio the European aviation and air safety organisation did not make any remarks about a report he had presented on Wednesday in Brussels. “Air Algerie obtained the air safety certificate. That means that it cares about air safety on its aircrafts and airfield. Three experts from the organisation paid an inspection visit to Algeria, weeks ago, and they made a positive report about the company.

    “Air Algerie and the government will launch a new investment plan in 2011 in all the fields relating to aviation including maintenance, spare parts and training of pilots and mechanics,” he added

    He also said old aircrafts will be sold as spare parts and iron scarping in a national tender. “Their value will exceed 15 million Euros.”

    Bouabdellah said pilgrimage process is going on in a good way. No delay happened expect one trip as birds entered the aircraft engine.

    “An additional trip was scheduled to bring the number of one-way trips to 70 transporting 18,150 pilgrims.”

    Air Algerie set up special rooms in Saudi airports to be used as boarding rooms for the Algerian pilgrims. “The airliner will receive 4 aircrafts in the first semester in 2011 while a fifth aircraft will be received in July.”
