“A total of 52 policemen were wounded. Of them, one is under concentrated medical care. They had been hurt by stones and sticks in the areas of Beraki and Oueld Ouchayeh in the capital,” Samir Khaoua told reporters.

Security forces arrested 29 people for violating public order in Oueld Ouchayeh and Beraki following moving house operations. Seven minors appeared in court Wednesday for violating public order.

The chief of communication cell said six swords were seized. Anti-riot police are still in those places to prevent any violent act.

He also said security forces arrested 35 persons on Tuesday in Algiers for drug smuggling and theft. A total of 3,117 people and 3,156 vehicles were searched. Some 82 violations were noted as well.

Chief of the judicial police’s eastern district Youcef Boutaouine said his department dismantled a network of counterfeiting documents in the area of Beraki.

“This network sells counterfeited documents at 2,000 DZ and 20,000 DZ. A total of 30 people were victim of it.”

A criminal network was also dismantled. It stole people using guns. Its eight members were operating in Tizi Ouzou (100 km east of Algiers) and Algiers.

According to the same source, the network targets institutions which have big financial incomes.

Earlier on December 18th, the judicial police received information that a hotel located in eastern Algiers was stolen by unknown people.

Investigations led to arrest 8 people. Five of them come from Tizi Ouzou and three from Algiers. A gun was seized and 4.1 billion centimes were recovered.
