Germany’s Vice-Chancellor, Sigmar Gabriel Thursday said Morocco, Algeria and Tunisia will be announced as “safe countries of origin” as the government agreed new measures as part of asylum policies.

Gabriel said under the new rules, some migrants will be blocked from bringing their families to join them in Germany for two years.

He added that the new measures “are there and can very quickly be presented to the cabinet.”

The Algerian League of Human Rights Defence said it is concerned about Algerian nationals in Germany.

Earlier, Algerian Prime Minister Abdelmalek Sellal said his country is ready to accept the deportation of its citizens from Berlin. That officially means the government gives the go-ahead to the German Chancellor Angela Merkel to deport more than 2,296 Algerian asylum-seekers by force.

The League described the detention of asylum-seekers in Germany as “illegal” and in contradiction with good neighbouring.

“This policy implement a punishment method and prevents Algerian nationals from reaching justice,” it added.
