Trade Ministry banned the Chinese products, tropical fruits and Chips within the black list of products that are banned from import permanently, in order to regulate the import file and alleviate the heavy burden that is posed by these products to the state treasury.

It has decided on Monday, according to Echorouk sources, to freeze the import of several products that pose a burden on the import bill, and threaten the domestic product in price and quality, during this meeting  of the Minister Amara Ben Younes, with managers of central services, as he discussed several points, including the issue of regulating the importation in light of the current economic situation and the deterioration of oil prices.
Trade Ministry put the Chinese products within the black list of products that are banned from import, in order to reduce the huge bill for the importation of these materials on one hand, and to encourage the local product on the other hand.
In this context, Echorouk sources reported that these products have become a threat to the local product, due to competition in price and quality, this is why the sector’s services decided to freeze their import as an initial step, then take mechanisms and procedures for their application, a decision means that even those products are not available in our country.
In addition to the Chinese Products, services of Ben Younes decided to ban the import of certain luxuries, especially those that caused a large controversy at the height of the deterioration of oil price, due to the high cost, and in the forefront the tropical fruits like the “Kiwi” “Pineapple” and “Avocado” to cut the road in front of importers, as these products are considered of luxuries and must be banned parallel with the economic situation and the repercussions of the deterioration of oil prices.
Same source that the steps that were taken by the sector’s officials, fall within the framework of combating the Mafia of import file, especially since the mentioned products represent a real problem for the state treasury, not to mention that it is a real risk that breaks the local product, and it intended to reduce the bill through the gradual transition to a national product.
Trade Ministry’s decision comes within the control procedures and organization of the import file, which was announced by the Minister earlier, when he emphasized that “Economic operators should understand well that the interest of the country’s economy comes above all other considerations, and government will reduce the products that are not needed, and products that are not needed should not be imported.
