Saidani rallies his supporters to “oblige” Bouteflika to run for office
Secretary General of Algeria’s National Liberation Front (FLN) Amar Saidani is expected to hold a rally on Saturday in La Coupole which is believed by his opponents to be used as pressure on Algerian President Abdelaziz Bouteflika to run for office.
The rally has been prepared for a week as the party mobilized means to receive delegations from many provinces and media.
Senior member in correctional movement Abdelkrim Abada said Saidani wants to fuel the situation and create dispute among the FLN’s members.
“The rally will put pressure on the president to run for a fourth term,” he told Echorouk on the phone.
According to press attaché at the party Said Bouhadja, the rally was authorized by the Algerian interior minister and comes following meetings held by Saidani.
He said thousands of people will attend the rally along with members of Parliament and local elected people.
He denied that it would be an anticipated electoral campaign.
He added that Saidani will deliver an important speech about the constitutional amendment and the fourth term.
