Four Border Guards Killed by Terrorists Western Algeria

Four ‭elements of ‭the border guards killed on Thursday‬ in ‭a terrorist ambush ‭on the way between ‭Azwia‭ and ‭ ‬ village of Rouban, located on the western borders, ‭about 50 ‭km from ‭the ‭headquarters of Tlemcen Wilaya, Western Algeria. ‬

The Ambush was installed by an unknown terrorist group at the point of “Azatecha”, at a distance of one kilometer from the Moroccan territory, at about 10 pm, while a team of the border guards launched a routine patrol in order to combat smuggling, before it was surprised by terrorists’ shots , resulting in the death of three elements ‭immediately, ‭as their dead bodies were transfered to Chabane Hamdoune ‬hospital ‭in Maghnia (western Algeria),‭ ‬while ‭the fourth guard died on Friday morning after he suffered eloquent injuries. ‬

The terrorist attack is the first of its kind since a decade, after the armed forces destroyed the most important strongholds of terrorist groups, where the terrorist group of “advocacy and fighting,” led by the terrorist Salim Al Afghani, before the elimination of all its elements.

Immediately after this terrorist attacks the armed troops launched a large combing operation at the level of Djabel Asfour, which extends ‭to ‭the Moroccan soil, and which is considered the most important stronghold of terrorism.

According to Echorouk information, an armed clash between members of the national army and the remnants of the terrorist group, based in Djebel Asfour, occured at about midnight, but we do not know whether the clashes has resulted in casualties and deaths.

Some sources of Echorouk, said the attakc was likely carried out by the terrorist group “protectors of the Salafist Call” led by the terrorist, “Issa Alsawabi”, successor of its leader Djamel Kerkabo, who was killed in an internal fighting about leadership.

Local sources explained that the residents of Roubane detected movements of a group comprising 15 members in the region, which opens the supposition of the existence of a coordination between a group active in Tlemcen (west of Algeria), and those based in the mountains of Sidi Bel Abbes, and which lost its prince “Halafawi” in a combing operation by the armed troops since two years ago‭.
