Algerian FM: Top Libyan officials to visit Algeria soon

The Algerian foreign minister Mourad Medelci has announced that the Arab League has decided to send a group pf ministers from 5 Arab countries including Algeria, Egypt, Oman, Sudan and Qatar to Syria to play the mediators between the opposing parties this country.

  • The Algerian official has indicated that the delegation is set to confer with the Syrian authorities and the president Bechar Al Assad in the upcoming few days, raising the possibility of conducting the negotiations in the Arab League premises.

  • “ We will discuss all the means to work out for a swift and satisfactory solution for all to the crisis”, he said.

  • Talking in a press conference on the occasion of the visit of his Portuguese counterpart to Algiers, M Medelci has told the journalists” A group of top Libyan officials including security ones will pay a visit to Algeria soon”.

  • The Algerian FM has indicated that the move is not a wishful thinking but a reality “ This visit will pave the way for the establishment of new diplomatic relations with the new Libyan authorities” .

  • As to the content of the discussions conducted with the Portuguese FM , ML Medelci has further added” This visit is part of the consolidation of the cooperation between the two countries and also an opportunity to  discuss several issues pertaining to the events that sweep through the Arab world and more specifically Syria”.
