Algerian Sheikhs To Preach Reconciliation Between Enemy Brothers In Libya

A group of Algerian religion men are due to partake in world congress on reconciliation in Libya capital, Tripoli, next Wednesday. The participants are sheikhs of Quran schools, known as Zawia.

The congress coincides with the esclating crisis in the strife torn Libya and the increasing threat of division, amid foreign intervention, and the rejection of the rebels’ NTC to launch peace talks as long as Gaddafi has not stepped down.

Sheikh Mohammed Nour, representative of Abderrahman Taalibi Zawia, in Boumerdes, told Echorouk reporter that the aforementioned congress will see the participation of elder imams and sheiks from different Arab and Islamic nations, adding that Algerian sheikhs have agreed to address Libyans with peaceful message to invite them to dialogue and reconciliation.

Sheikh Nour further added that the Algerian imams are biasing to any disputing party in Libya, although they have been invited by the Libyan government, stressing that they will work on making reconciliation between the enemy brothers. He added that Algeria has also gone through hard moments in the nineties, and managed overcoming it thanks to resorting to reason, dialogue and reconciliation.
