Algeria: Syrians stage sit-in out of embassy against blackmail
Tens of Syrians living in Algiers Saturday staged a sit-in out of their embassy protesting against blackmail.
- The protesters who have staged a sit-in for the fifth time said many forms of pressure and blackmail were exercised on the Syrian people who participate in such sit-ins.
- According to them, authorities in the embassy refused to give them required civil documents. They warned over informing the Algerian official authorities if those practices continue.
- The protesters told Echorouk the total number of the martyrs which was revealed by Syrian human rights organisations is wrong. Citizens do not disclose their lost relatives because security authorities eliminate every family which lost a member.
- They said the number of martyrs is estimated at more than 2,000, adding that they contact their relatives in Syria using codes fearing of elimination.
- The protesters hung slogans shouting “we want to kick you out Bachar,” “Bye Bye Bachar,” “we want to put you in La Haye,” “we do not like you,” “go away with your party” and other slogans calling on toppling the regime.
