A leading “GSPC” chieftain surrenders to security services

One of the major chieftains of the Salafist Group for Preaching and Combat (GSPC) called “Abou Abbas” whose real name is “Touat Athmane” hailing from the locality of Aïn Hamra in the eastern Boumerdes province has given himself up to the security services after 17 years of terrorist activity.

• Abou Abbas who was holding a prominent position within the ranks of the Salafist group for preaching and combat finally decided to forsake for good violence and terrorism after being persuaded by his wife and his close family members to surrender to the security services in the hope of benefiting from the clemency measures enshrined in the charter for peace and national reconciliation.

• It should be noted that the surrender of this major chieftain of the GSPC is a very severe blow to the terrorist groups as Abou Abbas has vowed to unveil all the destabilization and criminal schemes and the strategies of the GSPC to the security services stressing that Droudkel’s group are currently in the throes of scatting difficulties on all fronts.
