A pupil sets blaze on his body east of Algeria

Tebessa (East of Algeria) – A pupil of 15 “M.R” set fire on his body here on Thursday in his school situated in the town of Cheria, Tebessa, Echorouk sources said.

Same sources added that “M.R” 15 at his second year’s middle school committed a self blaze suicide because the administration asked him to bring a parent in order to justify his numerous absences in the period between 20 April and 12 May, as required by the rules of procedures in schools, however, the angry pupil brought a bottle of petrol and poured it on his body. Despite attempts by those who were present to prevent him from setting fire on his body, but fire was faster causing significant damage and serious burns.

The boy “M.R” was urgently transferred to Constantine hospital (east of Algeria), and police opened an investigation into the circumstances of the incident, the first of the kind in Algerian schools, while the number of self blaze cases in this city reaches 15, two of them died.

Echorouk contacted Constantine’s hospital and learned that the pupil’s situation is stable but no one can visit him despite dozens of people are there to see him.
