A repentant terrorist publishes a book highlighting the bumpy itinerary of terrorist groupings in Algeria.
A former terrorist who chose repentance, called “Abdelkhalek Abdeldjamil” is the author of a new book entitled “Islamist groups in Algeria, history and study”, which Echorouk newspaper has decided to publish large extracts shortly in a bid to enlighten the readers on the bumpy itinerary, the drifts and the jolts of the various terrorist groups in Algeria since the 90's.

- The author of this book who was among these groups before his repentance on December 19th 1999, as part of the law on civil concord, describes in detail the miserable life in the mountainous hide-outs as well the internal functioning of these terrorist gangs and the ceaseless internecine struggles.
- This former terrorist also describes how the GIA terrorist groups went fatally awry on account of deep divisions and the severe blows dealt to them by security forces until the advent of the GSPC, the Salafist group for preaching and combat, now ruled by Droudkel, alias Abou Mossab Abdelwadoud”.
- He further tells about his escape on March 10th 1994 together with numerous inmates from the prison of Tazoult near the eastern city of Batna, after being sentenced to death by justice for the attempted murder of a policeman on February 17th 1993.
- He then decided to join, together with a number of escapees, the terrorist groups operating in the Batna region before being promoted to a senior rank within the judicial body of the terrorist organization.
- Abdelkhalek asserted that after his decision to forsake for good terrorist violence in 1999 as part of the civil concord policy, he has become since October 31st 2007 the official spokesman of over 2.300 repentant terrorists who are now striving to promote the charter for peace and national reconciliation initiated by the president of the republic Abdellaziz Bouteflika.
