A U.S Economic Mission To Visit In Algeria

Head of the Algerian-American Business Council, Ismail Chikhoune, said on Wednesday, that an American economic mission is expected to visit Algeria to look for other opportunities for cooperation and the conclusion of two agreements in the field of industrial partnership, in the framework of prospects for the development of partnership between the two countries.

In an interview with the Algerian 3rd national radio, Chikhoune said that US investments in the hydrocarbons sector in Algeria has shrunk significantly, and attributed the reason to the decline in the global growth after USA becomes a country that imports oil.

In terms of trade between the two countries, the spokesman said that in 2016 Algeria imported from the United States more than two billion dollars in grain, aircraft, industrial machinery and dry fruits, while it exports to the United States what is estimated at 3.2 billion dollars, mostly the energy materials.

Speaking of bilateral cooperation, he called for the launch of a specialized health research center based in Algiers to develop activities that are related to electronics, cars, spare parts and solar energy.

The bilateral partnership in the field of health and pharmaceuticals was strengthened by cooperation in agriculture through the establishment of the two largest farms in the desert areas, which will yield fruits in the coming month after planting 500 hectares of potato seeds before planting similar areas of wheat and maize.
