Security services of Telemcen (western Algeria) put, on Tuesday, an end to the activity of a criminal cell that is composed of Africans who are active in forging and promoting hard currency (Euro and Dollar), while investigations are still ongoing after the security arrested two Malians, as it was necessary to extend jurisdiction to Oran Province (western Algeria), where they seized the equipment that was used in the forgery of hard currency.

The process also resulted in the recovery of a forged amount of money worth 31 million centimes and 8000 DA, after information that were received by the security services, about a suspicious activity by African nationals, then a plan was prepared, in coordination with the security services of Sebdou municipality, to arrested them after taking them in a popular neighborhood in Tlemcen, specifically in the Zeitoun neighborhood, where they waited for the arrival of one of the victims in order to replace the fake money with a financial amount of the Algerian currency.

Preliminary investigations showed that the two African nationals have judicial precedents in hard currency trafficking, as they stayed in a modest hotel in Oran to practice their suspicious activities, accompanied by other persons, who are still wanted.

According to available data, the gang had used many methods and ways in order to mislead the security services fraudulently with reliance on various means of contact, in order to implement its criminal plans and dump the Algerian market with forged hard currency.

Its activity was increasingly prevalent with the end of year, which is an opportunity for the gang to exercise and increase its activity and the targeting of people who want to spend the year-end holidays in European or Arab countries, through a network that is working to target victims.

This process also reveal the other side of the Africans who are taking advantage of the situation of refugees as a cover for the exercise of crimes that destroy the national economy through distributing forged hard currency.
