Agriculture minister: incentive measures to put into force at earliest

The Agriculture minister Rachid Ben Aissa has revealed that the latest package of measures endorsed by the government to overhaul the sector will be enacted as of next April, especially those related to young farmers willing to create small exploitations.

  • As to the assistance loan initiated by the ministry in 2008, the minister has indicated that the deadline was extended from 18 to 26 months in a move to guarantee a longer assistance to the farmers.
  • Rachid Ben Aissa has further indicated that the loans, without interest rates, will help generate a large number of jobs and encourage youngsters to invest in their rural environment.
  • Reacting to the complaints raised by the farmers over bureaucratic hindrances that prevented them from starting their projects, the minister has asserted that he started a series of visits across different provinces in the country, in order to discuss with the farmers and facilitate the procedures.
  • He has indicated that firm instructions were given to the banks so as to facilitate the task for farmers.
  • Rachid Ben Aissa paid a visit to he provinces of M’sila , Djelfa and Gherdaia in a move to start dialogue with the farmers and listen to their complaints.
