Employees at Air Algerie’s technical support Wednesday went on strike while trips were not cancelled. The technical department signed 5 permissions for abroad trips for two hours including a trip to Frankfurt and France.

According to trade union activists, the strikers are affiliated to an independent union. They complained about what they call “discrimination” between them and the other employees.

During the stoppage, trips were scheduled without being validated by mechanics. A deputy director at the technical department signed a permission for airplanes to take off. That raised anger among the strikers as the aircrafts left the airport without a mechanic.

The union’s leader held talks with representatives of Air Algerie’s general department and called for equality among all the employees.

Echorouk tried to contact the leader of Air Algerie’s trade union but in vain.

Air Algerie’s workers are represented in three independent unions: pilots’ union, cabin crew union and technical support employees’ union.
