Air Algerie: passengers experience “suspense” in trip to Canada

An Air Algerie aircraft heading to Montreal Thursday countered a technical problem and had to come back to Algiers after two hours and a half of flying on the Mediterranean Sea.

The aircraft carried 260 passengers including the wife of Air Algerie’s CEO Bekhouche Allache.

Passengers protested as they were supposed to arrive to Canada at around 2 pm. The flight was postponed until 8 pm.

Air Algerie’s administration offered food to passengers but they were angry about the delay of 6 hours.

The Algerian airline started renewing its equipment, three years ago. Old vehicles which have been used for more than 30 years are not used anymore and are prevented from entering European airports.

Most of the mobilized aircrafts are either Airbus or Boings. A single aircraft cost about 1000 billion centimes.

Air Algerie still waits for a project for its restructuration and division into four independent branches. Of them, catering and maintenance branches were established.
