Air Algérie Plane returned to Constantine airport after 10 minutes of flight due to an engine combustion

Over 61 passengers, who were on board of an Air Algerie plane for an internal flight between the airport of Mohamed Boudiaf in Constantine (eastern Algeria) and Houari Boumediene airport in Algiers, lived nearly a quarter of an hour in hysterical fear, which turned once the plane flew, to screech and terror among travelers and passengers of all ages, especially when the pilot decided to return to the runway after ten minutes of the flight.

Air Algerie Constantine-Algiers flight was supposed to start at 7:50 am, but after 10 minutes of the flight passenger felt strong tremors, after that they heard an explosion, and their fear increased when they noticed through the windows of the plane a thick smoke, then they knew that it is the result of a combustion of an engine.
Passengers told Echorouk that they received assurances from two elements of the crew asking travelers not to be afraid, because what happened was just a simple technical glitch, while flight attendants disappeared finally, then the crew decided to return back to the airport of Constantine, where the plane was surrounded by five ambulances and cars of security services.
Investigations were launched in this incident, which is added to a number of incidents that marked the only airline company in Algeria, as the company compensated the travelers with a similar ATRO cancelled flight, within 9:00 am on Saturday morning, and officials of the airport refused to comment on the incident, and described what happened as a usual incident, but the uproar about the company and crashes is the cause that made passengers feel more fear up to the point of fainting.
Algeria began to use ATRO planes or what is known globally as the Regional Flights’ planes, at the beginning of the new millennium, within the internal lines only, and is known of being the safer aircraft, as no crash was recorded since a decade ago at the global level, and the remaining disadvantage is that it took the distance between Constantine and Algiers, for example, in a matter of an hour and five minutes, while large planes took it in a matter of 40 minutes in addition to the absorbed energy which is limited and do not exceed more than 74 seats.
