Al-Ahmaddiyya’s leader in Algeria goes to jail

Al-Ahmaddiyya sect’s leader was arrested on Tuesday by security forces in the province of Naama. This came following information about his arrival to Ain Safra twon on a family visit. An arrest warrant had been issued against him by a court in Mostaghanem, Echorouk has learnt.

Al-Ahmaddiyya’s leader, 41, has three children. He comes from Ain Safra. He used to work as a builder. His first contact with the sect was via foreign workers at an Asian company which was in charge of a number of projects in Naama.

According to the same sources, the Asian workers were followers of Al-Ahmaddiyya. They encouraged the suspect to follow their beliefs. He started spreading the sect principals and could attract 20 people in Naama. They are all workers at the company including a translator.

The suspect moved to the province of Tipaza and was appointed as a leader of Al-Ahmaddiya in Algeria.

A few months ago, security forces arrested 17 people who followed the sect. Circulars and documents related to Al-Ahmaddiya were found with them. They were sentenced to suspended years in prison and fines.
