Al Jazeera General Manager to Echourok: International experts will help us unmask those behind our transmissions’ problems.

The Director General of Qatar-based satellite channel, Aljazeera, Ahmed Al Khelifi has revealed that he has called on several international experts to help him unmask those responsible for jamming the channel’s signal during the first two days of the World cup tournament in South Africa.

• The official pledged to lodge a complaint against the wrongdoer but didn’t openly accused any party indicating that the International Football Governing Body (FIFA) is backing Al Jazeera’s  move and will help it recover its rights.

• Echourok: What about the problem of the signal interference that occurred with Al Jazeera channels the day before yesterday on the Nile Sat?

• Al Khilifi: Everything is ok so far, and there is not any problem but we will not keep silent concerning this matter because it was premeditated somewhere, the Arab world was penalized and missed the inaugural ceremony and couldn’t watch the opening match between South Africa and Mexico in good conditions due to the jamming of our signal on Nile Sat. We are deeply sorry for this inconvenience; especially everybody was waiting this moment.

• Echourok: After all these trouble, who do you think is responsible for this situation?

• Al Khilifi: We don’t accuse any party or anyone so far, because we don’t really know who is behind the jamming of our signal on Nile Sat, but we will do our utmost to unmask the wrongdoer because what happened has spoiled all our subscribers across the Arab world.

• Echourok: What are the means do you intend to use to reveal the identity of the wrongdoer to the Arab world?

• Al Khilifi: Right after the beginning of the interference, we got in touch with several Sat companies to get assistance and investigate the matter. We will unmask the wrongdoer to the world before carrying on the legal procedures to retrieve our rights.

• Echourok: The Chairman of the Egyptian Broadcasting Union , Oussama Echiekh has yesterday revealed they have nothing to do in the problem, as if you were accusing them openly any comment?

• Al Khilifi: I have told you earlier that we didn’t accuse anyone so far, until we get solid proofs, but I didn’t understand why Oussama Echiekh is making such declarations although we didn’t point at anyone so far and we won’t take into consideration his declarations.

• Echourok: He has revealed that he will sue for not fulfilling your contracts with the Egyptian channels concerning the transmission of the matches?

• Al Khilifi: As we are concerned we don’t have any problem with anyone and I’m quite amazed by Ousama Echiekh’s declarations and he intends to sue us, so be it.
• Echourok: Today Algeria will play Slovenia, is there any possibility for the Algerian people to follow their national squad on your encrypted channels?

• Al Khilifi: I hope so we didn’t decide yet because we intend to meet with the Fifa special committee to see whether we can broadcast live the match.
