Al-Qaeda members hide trenches constructed during the Algerian Revolution
50 terrorists are stationed at numerous caves and trenches

Reliable sources told Echorouk that 50 terror members who have been besieged during the last two weeks in Tizi Ouzou and Bejaia forests, are stationed at the numerous caves and trenches surrounding Beni Ksila forests. The area is said to be the hideout of the group since the end of the 1990s accompanied by women and children.According to testimonies of them who were arrested recently, these women, which are the wives of mainly the group’s chiefs and serve the whole group by cooking washing the clothes and raising children. The number of the latter are said to be from 15 to 20 born amid the jungle. Most of them are now 15 years of age.

The information has also been confirmed when military operations were carried out in their strongholds in the region. During last summer’s operations several women and children were found at their camps in the Yakouren area. As for the objectives behind involving women in these camps, sources added that members of the “Al-Qaeda in the Islamic Maghreb” are trying to provide as much as possible necessary conditions for their normal way of life. The terrorists are also said to encourage procreation in order to ensure the ‘’Jihadists’’ groups are continuously provided with elements likely to continue their war on civilisation.

As for the specificities of the region and why have these groups chosen it as a hideout, historians say the area was used by Algerian Revolution Martyr late Amirouche in his glorious operations against the colonisers. The densely forested region is full of trenches and caves. Late Amirouche and according to witnesses and historians was using the area to rest with his groups and to prepare further military operations and strategies.

The difficulty to move in the forest is not the only reason for terrorists to utilise it but also for the secret treasures hidden by the National Liberation Army. Treasures are said to be precious stones found by late Commander Amirouche and his companions when they excavated the trenched in the area.

Treasure might be used to serve as funds financing purchase of weapons and ammunition.

It is worth mentioning that members of the National Popular Army are pursuing their racking of the area. Many camps and hideouts were destroyed while 25 terrorists were killed last week.

The army achieved very significant progress in the area and many lines of landmines, said the same source.
