General Director of the Retirement National Fund Slimane Melouka Tuesday said a total of 180,000 workers applied for retirement in 2016.

The Retirement Fund will present figures about its financial situation in the next few days. “A large number of workers applied for relative retirement. Yet, they changed their mind and decided to continue working until the age of 60,” Melouki told Echorouk.

Hundreds of workers withdrew their application for early retirement due to a new measure included in the Retirement Law. It stipulates that workers get pension as an exception for two years after having worked for 32 years and reached 58 years old in 2017 and 59 in 2018.

The Fund’s General Director said all the workers who submitted their application in 2016 and respected all the conditions will retire officially.
