Algeria and Morocco “must†boost cooperation, says President Bouteflika
President Abdelaziz Bouteflika said on Sunday there is no problem due to hamper bilateral relationships between Algeria and Morocco, stressing that the Western Sahara is a UN issue.
- President has inaugurated the historic palace of Mechouar after the completion of renovation works which have been carried out by a group of Moroccan experts in carved and sculptured decoration and ornament. This project is part of Tlemcen is the “Capital of the Islamic Culture 2011.”
- In the second day of his work visit to Tlemcen province, western the country, Mr Bouteflika stated: “The problem of Western Sahara is a UN issue, which Morocco has to setle with this body. Yet, Morocco is a neighbour and sister country and we must cooperate and we must work together.”
- Mr Bouteflika encouraged the leaders of museums and other historic sites to cooperate with neighboring countries, including Morocco, which has preserved its cultural heritage. “Moroccans have preserved a heritage that we lost in Algeria and we must rebuild it with the help of Moroccans who have managed to preserve this heritage and also with the Spanish, who have an extremely important Andalusia heritage,” President recommended.
