Algeria: ANP Chief of Staff Gaid Salah hails constitutional revision

Army Corps General, Ahmed Gaid Salah, Deputy Minister of National Defence, Chief of Staff of the National People’s Army (ANP) has hailed the recent revision of the country’s constitution undertaken by the President of the Republic Abdellaziz Bouteflika while reiterating the solemn pledge of the ANP Army to duly fulfill all its constitutional and national tasks.

“Ensuring the stability of Algeria and instilling the values ​​of safety and tranquility into the Algerian citizens, the ANP under the command of His Excellency the President of the Republic, Supreme Commander of the national Armed Forces, Minister of National Defense, pledges to fully carry out its constitutional and national tasks,” General Salah Gaïd said Thursday during a keynote speech at the annual meeting in Algiers of executives of the ANP training apparatus.

He added that the ANP is keen to “strengthen the trust shared with the people”. “This confidence which considers Algeria and only Algeria, as the common factor for which all efforts are combined”, he added.

“We see ourselves as committed soldiers, shields of Algeria, the walls of its hard-won independence, the staunch defenders of national independence and territorial and popular unity, while being proud of these national and constitutional tasks assigned to our Armed Forces, we strive continuously, and relentlessly, to be up to the mark in all circumstances,” the Army Corps General underlined.

“We salute first, the approach of His Excellency, the President of the Republic, Abdellaziz Bouteflika through the revision of the national Constitution, which we consider rightly as the pivot for shoring up the democratic process of our country and as a salutary vision to consolidate the foundations of national unity,” he also stressed.

General Ahmed Gaid Salah further highlighted the signs of consideration, appreciation and recognition, the draft revision of the constitution extended to the valiant ANP Army, noting that this will further bolster its potent determination to carry out all the tasks assigned to it steadfastly. “

He said this “will certainly  reinforce the resolve of ANP Army and all the country’s security services to carry out their bounden missions, with the firm conviction that Algeria, which draws its strength from its glorious history, will remain with the help of God Almighty on the right path, stressing that its  worthy sons must remain faithful to their oath and put their nation beyond all considerations, by granting it the rewarding place that suits it above all personal interests in order to ensure a better and brighter future for the benefit of all the Algerian citizens”.
