Algeria army destroys Gourdel’s execution place

Algerian army forces found out the place where a French national was kidnapped and killed by a terrorist group. The shelter was destroyed after large-scale combing operations.

“Directly after the French national had been kidnapped on September 21^st, 2014, the National Popular Army carried out large-scale military operations,” said the Algerian defense ministry on Thursday.

“The army’s forces reached the place where the French was kidnapped in the Djurdjura Mountains in the province of Tizi Ouzou. The shelter was found and destroyed,” it added.

The ministry posted images of the terrorist element’s shelter. They show handmade bombs, telescopes and devises used in making bombs.

The ministry also said the combing operation is still underway and the army is determined to chase the criminals until it eliminates them all.

Earlier on September 21^st, the so-called Jound Al Khilafa group kidnapped Hervé Gourdel, 55, in Tizi Ouzou (100 km east of Algiers). He was executed 24 hours later.
