Algeria army foils infiltration attempt on borders with Mali

The National Popular Army’s forces are reinforced with Special Forces, the National Gendarmerie forces and border guards. They use sophisticated electronic equipment to keep watch on borders with Libya and Tunisia and avoid any intrusion operation, Echorouk has learnt.

The Army’s forces Sunday foiled an attempt to infiltrate national borders as soldiers stopped a convoy from Sharia Supporters’ Group which included 6 cars and 22 men of different nationalities.

According to the same sources, 9 arrested men were Tunisian and others have different nationalities including Algeria and other Arab countries. A large number of weapons were recovered.

Security forces asked all the Algerian embassies in the African Sahel to take extreme prevention and security measures. They expect that the so-called Al-Qaeda would carry out a revenge attack in response to the kidnapping attempt of the Algerian ambassador to Libya which was foiled.
