Reliable sources told Echorouk newspaper that a woman wearing a “niqab” attempted to kidnap on Wednesday two schoolgirls who were on their way back home, after winding up their school courses in Bouinan, in Blida province, 50 km west of Algiers.
The abduction attempt was foiled at the last minute by a passing citizen who prevented the kidnapper from taking away the two 9 year-old girls on board a waiting car parked not far from their school.
After being alerted by the girls’ parents, the Bouinan police services opened an immediate investigation to track down those behind this abduction attempt and bring them to justice.
The kidnapping phenomenon has been increasing over the past few months with several abductions of lonely children reported in several towns and cities of the country.
