Algeria Calls for An Effective Boycott of Israel

Islamic countries should mobilize the diplomatic, political and financial support for the Palestinian authority and people as well, Chairman of of the National People’s Assembly, Mohamed Larbi Ould Khalifa, said on Monday in Jakarta,

Ould Khalifa, asserted, in a speech on the occasion of the special summit of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, in which he participates as a representative of the President of the Republic, Abdelaziz Bouteflika, that Algeria proposes to “adopt a set of practical measures, such as achieving the boycott of Israel and activating the boycott office at the General Secretariat, with the submission of periodic reports by Secretary-General to the Council of Foreign Ministers and the Islamic Summit Conference.”
Algeria called for the need to “mobilize diplomatic, political and financial support to the Palestinian authority and people, and a commitment to supporting the Palestinian diplomatic initiatives in the international fora and to vote in favour of the resolutions on Palestine, especially at the level of United Nations’ General Assembly.”
Algeria also called upon the OIC countries to “The need to expand the international recognitions of the State of Palestine and complete the formal recognition of each Member States of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation.”
“There is an importance of working for the implementation of the resolution on Jerusalem and Al-Aqsa Fund, which was adopted by the Council of Foreign Ministers for the Organization of Islamic Cooperation after an initiative of Algeria, in order to ensure financial support to the Palestinian Authority, on the one hand, and provide the necessary funding for social, physical, economic and educational projects in Jerusalem”.
“Implementation of this resolution contributes to support the steadfastness of Jérusalem population in front of the Israeli Judaization and continuous demolition and displacement acts. Countries that are participating in the summit should take advantage of this historic opportunity to expand solidarity with the struggle of the Palestinian people and their cause.”
“Extremely sensitive international and regional circumstances, in which the conference convenes, makes the Palestinian issue facing serious challenges and great risks, like the escalation of the ongoing violations of the national rights of the Palestinian people and the continuation of the Israeli occupation and settlement policies, and Judaization of Jerusalem and the unjust siege that is imposed on Gaza Strip”.
“The blockage of the peace process presents a major challenge for the Palestinian people, its leadership and the international community as a whole. What makes the situation worse is the increased prevalence of crises in the Islamic world, especially in the Middle East. Arab countries which lived, since 2011, a social and political movement, are living internal conflicts, instability and terrorism. This situation has attracted the attention of the international community and regional powers at the expense of the central cause, which the cause of Palestine.”
