Algeria’s new labor law includes strict regulations to forbid exploiting children in work. It allocated 4 articles to organize children’s work (from Article 48 to 52).

Article 48 stipulates that it is not allowed to employ minor workers and trainees from both genders less than 18 in works harmful to physical, mental and moral health.

The new draft law which includes 661 articles determined work sectors, hours and wages for children.

Article 49 stipulates that children under 16 can be hired only in light work not harmful to their body such as audio records and commercials. A written approval from parents is necessary.

Children aged between 6 and 16 who go to school are allowed to work in holidays only.

The draft law also fixed ways to end illegal employment. It explained breaches related to workers’ social rights such as social security.
