Algeria court postpones Hattab, El Para and Droudkel cases

A court in Algiers postponed the case of 12 terrorists on Tuesday. Hassan Hattab, Saifi Ammari and Droudkel Abdelmalek are accused of forming a terrorist group, killings, kidnappings, torturing and blowing up public places.

  • The case was postponed to the next penal session as suspect Chemmami Mohamed had not been questioned and an appeal had been made by the principal accused Toumi Mohamed against the accusation chamber’s decision.

  • Defence lawyers insisted on the presence of suspects Hassan Hattab, ammari Saifi and Rabie Cherif Said. “The case goses back to 2006 when security forces had entered in clash with a number of terrorists in the province of Bouira (125 km east of Algiers.”

  • “Security forces eliminated four terrorists an arrested Toumi Mohamed who killed three gendarmes,” said the same source.

  • “Toumi Mohamed was Hassan Hattab’s bodyguard. Earlier in 2009, a court in Blida (west of Algiers) sentenced him to 15 years in prison for belonging to a terrorist group.”

  • He admitted that he worked for a terrorist group in Bouira and revealed the name of its members. He also admitted that he was involved in many terrorist attacks including bombs, killings and kidnappings.
