Algeria creates independent commission to prepare new information draft bill

Algerian communication minister Nacer Mhel announced on Wednesday the creation of an independent commission to prepare the new information law.
- “This commission which includes experts in audio-visual, information and communication will present proposals in consultation with journalists, teachers and publishers,” Nacer Mhel told a conference in Mostaghanem (west of Algiers).
- “The draft bill will be presented to the cabinet for approbation within three months,” he added.
- “This law will enable to concretise a modern practice of information. That would achieve a sustainable development of the country.”
- The minister called on communication students to learn the new technologies as the “future will be to new technologies including social communication websites.”
- Mhel told reporters a national meeting will be soon held with journalists to concretise Algerian President Bouteflika’s decisions as part of reforms he had announced on April 15th and in the last cabinet meeting.
