Azzedine Mihoubi, Algeria's culture minister

Algeria’s culture minister Azzedine Mihoubi Sunday said he talked to his Tunisian counterpart Mohamed Zinelabidine about the humiliation of an Algerian delegation in the Cartage movie festival.

“I talked to Mr. Mohamed Zinelabiddine, the Tunisian minister of culture and Algerian honourable actress Bahia Rachedi. He accompanied her to the Cartage Airport and apologized to her along with the Algerian delegation,” Mihoubi said on his Facebook page.

“Doctor Zinealbiddine told me that he invited the Algerian delegation to come back to Tunisia after a week to honor them. This to say that he did not accept what happened to Algerian artists who have good relations with Tunisia,” he added.

Earlier, Algerian artist Bahia Rachedi posted a video, accusing the Cartage Festival organizers of humiliating the Algerian delegation.

“Unfortunately, the Algerian delegation had no value in this festival. I wish Algeria got an award but this is not the problem. They did not look at us respectably as if we don’t have any culture,” she said in tears.
