Algeria did not apologize to Egypt

Algeria did not make any apology to the Egyptian government so that Ambassador Abdelaziz Chawki Saif Ennasr resumes his work, said Algeria’s ambassador to Cairo Abdelkader Hadjar Sunday.

  • “There was no agreement between Algeria and Egypt to make Ambasasdor Saif Ennasr resume his work in Algeria,” Hadjar told Echorouk.
  •
  • Eighty days ago, Egypt withdrew its ambassador in Algeria while Hajar remained in his position in Cairo as if nothing happened.
  •
  • “Egypt’s authorities are free to do whatever they want. Earlier, they decided to summon their ambassador to Algeria for consultation. The, they decided to appoint him back to his position. Egypt is the decision maker in this regard and Algeria has nothing to do with that,” said Hadjar.
  •
  • “Egypt is a sovereign country and Algeria has nothing to say in this issue,” he added.
  •
  • According to the Algerian ambassador, Egypt did not contact his country to find out how Ambassador Abdelaziz Saif Ennasr can resume his work. “It is an Egyptian domestic issue. Because of that, there was no contact with the Algerian authorities.”
  •
  • “I believe that the problem was in Egypt because Algeria has already said there was no crisis between the two countries.”
  •
  • Speaking about Algerian people living in Egypt, Hadjar said their number is estimated at about 1,500. “The Algerian people who left Cairo have come back after calm was restored. Yet, those who came back remain few.”
