Algeria foils hard currency smuggling attempt
Algeria’s customs foiled an attempt to smuggle more than 278,000 euros to Dubai in the province of Tebessa (east of Algiers), Echorouk has learnt.

A car with three men was ambushed on the national road No 82 in the area of Kouif in Tebessa. The gendarmes inspected it and found the money wrapped in a corner. The driver and his companions were introduced to court.

This case is considered as the biggest money smuggling attempt across Tebessa during this year. Many Asian, European and Gulf countries is willing to receive foreign currency legally or illegally.

The seized money was going to be smuggled to Dubai. Specialised networks in west, east and south of Algiers were mobilised to this operation.
